Twitter's Double Standard: Death Threats against Donald Trump Treated Unequally Compared to "The Squad"

We condemned the President's inability to denounced white supremacy at the Presidential Debates and now Twitter with its long history of allowing white supremacist and white nationalists groups to have a presence on the bird app has resulted in a double standard.

Previously, Twitter has not denounced and failed to set up guidelines to deter users from using racist, homophobic language and it has been slow to ban white nationalists from the app. Now, however, Twitter has tweeted out a warning to users pertaining to "tweets that wish or hope for the death, serious bodily harm or fatal disease against *anyone* are not allowed and will need be removed..."

This has resulted in Twitter being accused of double standards since the social media app failed to apply the same guideline in regards to tweets that were directed to the members of  "The Squad," Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts who all have been victims of harassment and faced death threats on Twitter, which Twitter failed to act on.

With Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D) tweeting, "Seriously though, this is messed up. The death threats towards us should have been taking more seriously by [Twitter]."

Twitter's reaction to their users' tweets expresses a double standard and is essentially telling those that support Trump "to stand by and stand back."

However, Twitter is aware of this double standard and tweeted out Saturday, October 3rd, "...We agree we must do better, and are working together inside to do so."

What exactly Twitter is doing to ensure the safety of their users without double standards coming into play is unknown at this present time.
